Handy Hands

Volunteer handy men and women will do minor west Michigan household repairs. Services are offered based on the talents and abilities of the available volunteers.

It is our our policy to expect that the homeowner pay for any materials used. A suggested donation of $10.00 for the first half-hour, and $5.00 every half-hour thereafter may be sent to the Shepherd's Center office:

Escort Transportation

Medical Appointments

Escort Transportation is a one-on-one personalized transportation service to health related appointments. Transportation is available Monday through Thursday:

  • Limit of two rides per week per individual
  • Ambulatory (canes and walkers are welcome)
  • Limited availability

A donation to the Shepherd's Center of $10.00 is suggested for a round trip. This may be paid to the driver.

Non-Medical Appointments

Non-Medical escort transportation is a one-on-one personalized transportation service for non-medical needs such as shopping, banking, library, and nursing home visits.

  • Service available Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Limited to one ride per week
  • Ambulatory (canes and walkers are welcome)
  • Limit of 3 hours per trip

A donation to the Shepherd's Center of $10.00 is suggested for a round trip. This may be paid to the driver.

Adult Breaktime Club

The Adult Breaktime Club is a respite program which provides a safe environment in which older adults with early Alzheimer's and other dementias or minor physical limitations will have the opportunity to be part of an active groups of folks and enjoy the benefits of new friendships. It also gives caregivers a much needed break from caring for their loved ones.

  • Hours: 11:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • ¬†Tuesdays, and Thursdays
  • Held at Church of the Savior on 3616 East G Avenue
  • Nutritious noon lunch and mid-afternoon snack
  • The suggested donation for this program is $20.00 for the four hours.

Transportation available if needed through Shepherd's Center Escort Transportation (Suggest Donation: $10.00)
